A place to enjoy the everyday.

What draws me to West Springs is the combination of beautiful homes and the life around them. A favourite coffee shop, a school nearby, somewhere lovely for dinner: these are the details that make a neighbourhood feel like your own.

For buyers considering Calgary’s west side, I see its appeal in the choice it offers. You can explore established residential streets, homes with generous proportions and more contemporary spaces close to the activity of West District.

A home that suits your next chapter.

Buyers often come to me looking for spacious rooms and modern interiors. Alongside larger detached homes, I encourage them to consider more modest family homes and properties whose owners have thoughtfully updated them over time. The condition and quality of each renovation still deserve a close look.

For those wanting less garden to maintain, West District also offers apartment and townhouse options. The Gateway penthouse pictured here captures the sense of light and generosity that can be possible in an apartment. We look at the individual building, outlook, layout and ownership responsibilities before deciding whether it suits you.

Coffee, dinner and the daily essentials.

I encourage buyers to spend time here between viewings. Pick up a few groceries, try a coffee shop and walk the streets around a home you are considering. Notice whether the places you would use regularly feel convenient from that particular address.

Mercato West on 85 Street is one of the area’s established dining destinations. Around West District, the retailer directory includes Deville Coffee, UNA Pizza & Wine, Village Ice Cream and a range of fitness, beauty and health services. It gives you plenty to explore beyond the houses themselves.

Schools and the rhythm of family life.

For some families, being close to St. Joan of Arc School on Wentworth Drive is a particular priority. I suggest walking the actual route, exploring nearby parks and thinking through the journeys you will make each week.

Proximity alone does not confirm a school place. Check current attendance boundaries, eligibility and availability directly with the relevant school board before making a home purchase around a particular school.

West District, now and next.

West District brings a more urban feel to the west side, with shops and services along Broadcast Avenue and Radio Park at its centre. It is worth experiencing on foot to understand how that setting differs from a quieter residential street.

A joint YMCA and Calgary Public Library facility is proposed for West District. It is in the design stage, with funding and further approvals still required before construction. These are future plans rather than amenities already open to residents.
